My Pocket PC (PPC) Adventures: MDA 3

Year 2005: T-Mobile MDA 3

In 2005, after skipping the XDA II generation, I bought a T-Mobile MDA 3 [specs], originally named HTC Blue Angel and coming with WM 2003 SE. Compared to the XDA 1, it has superiour connectivity; and as a side effect, double speed and RAM size.

Unfortunately, the slider keyboard seems to make the frame somewhat fragile. The touchscreen broke twice: Once at snowboarding, which is acceptable; the second time while falling down with my (heavily padded) motorcycle jacket, which just should not have happened.

The first time I sent it in; the second time I did a disassembly.

T-Mobile MDA 3 Evaluation
MDA 3 Pro:
  • WLAN
  • Bluetooth
  • Keyboard
  • VGA Camera
Contra:
  • Fragile frame due to slider keyboard
  • No GPS
Bugs:
  • Spontaneous turning on

Overall, I was pretty happy with the device, I just wish it would be more robust.
